In early October former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón said that the International Criminal court (ICC) could formally investigate the individuals who orchestrated the 2009 coup d'état against former President Manuel Zelaya. This comes after the head of the ICC, Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo announced the organisation would examine events around the coup in November 2010, and we believe that if a case were put together this could have consequences for the former de facto president Roberto Micheletti, and Romeo Vázquez Velázquez the former head of the army who has shown ambitions to run for president in November 2013's general
