The official visit that Argentinean President Cristina Fernández paid to Coniagro, one of the country's largest farmers associations, was interpreted by many as a sign of improving relationships between the president and the industry, which for the past few years has strongly opposed the introduction of grains and oil seeds export taxes. Even though most farmers seem to have appreciated President Fernández's gesture, we highlight that beyond the apparent détente there are still no signs of substantial changes to the government's agricultural policy.
