Macroeconomic Forecast Chile

September 2011 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

Chile's august trade balance recorded a US$0.5bn surplus, as exports grew by 24.8% y-o-y to US$6.8bn and imports grew 21.8% y-o-y to US$6.39bn. While we expect the strong consumer story in Chile to see import growth outpace that of exports in the coming months, we still expect the economy to post a US$15.8bn trade surplus in 2011 as the value of Chilean exports, namely copper, remains high by historic standards for the remainder of 2011.
