Sectoral Decline Weighing On Growth

We believe that Cuba's failure to modernize its main export sectors - nickel, oil, and sugar - will likely result in an ongoing slowdown in economic activity. Despite a few exceptional deals, we expect that systemic underinvestment in Cuba's extractive and industrial capacities as well as inadequate agrarian reform will weigh on growth over the coming years.
