On July 24 Argentina's first election ever to use a single ballot paper for each post contended took place in the province of Santa Fe. Antonio Bonfatti of the Partido Socialista (PS) was victorious, with 38.7% of the vote, ensuring the Frente Progresista Cívico y Social (FPCyS) retained the governorship. Second place went to Miguel del Sel of the Propuesta Republicana, the centre-right party led by Mauricio Macri - the Mayor of Buenos Aires City who seems set to win re-election. The candidate from the president's Frente para la Victoria(FPV) ended third, as the agriculture-based province handed Fernández her first electoral upset in the run-up to October's presidential elections.
