Allegations that the Nicaraguan government is attempting to win the upcoming general election through undemocratic means look set to persist ahead of the November ballot. Although the ruling Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional looks likely to win, we believe the lack of transparency of democratic process will damage the country's image long after 2011.
