External Accounts Increasingly Unstable

Oil exports will continue to drive Venezuela's current account surplus over the long term. However, we are growing increasingly concerned about the financial account deficit as the authorities struggle to maintain its fixed exchange rates, and devaluation of the bolĂ­var remains unviable with elections drawing closer.
