External Accounts Yet Another Problem For Martelly

Haiti's balance of payments accounts will remain precarious for the foreseeable future as both the current and financial accounts stay firmly in deficit. Capital account surpluses generated by foreign transfers and considerable inflows of IMF credit should prevent a major external accounts crisis in the medium term, but without serious rebalancing Haiti faces a serious reserves drawdown and massive balance of payments instability in the longer term.
