Mexico-based non-governmental organisation Transparencia Mexicana (TM) recently revealed the results of its 2010 national index of good governance and corruption in the country, suggesting corruption has risen in recent years, and affected 10.3% of the total public service requests and transactions in 2010. TM also claimed that more than 200mn corrupt practices were carried out at the municipal, state and central government levels, with the average cost of a bribe rising from MXN138 to MXN165 between 2007 and 2010.
