Concern Over Regime Survival In 2011

High global commodity prices are pushing food and fuel prices higher, making the Bolivian government's subsidies and price caps unsustainable. With fiscal pressures likely to encourage President Evo Morales to continue to remove subsidies through 2011 and inflation already at 8.4% year-on-year in January, we caution that protests and riots could become increasingly widespread and violent, posing a credible threat to the stability of the current regime.
